Amazon just revisited these cities as HQ2 decision imminent

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said he plans to announce the finalist for the company’s second headquarters by the end of the year and according to the Wall Street Journal report, it could be one of five cities.

In January, Amazon announced its 20 finalists after receiving more than 230 proposals from cities, towns, and regions across the country.

‘Honestly, it’s not for everyone’ says Nebraska’s self-deprecating, new tourism campaign

State tourism officials couldn’t be reached for comment late Wednesday, but Nebraska Tourism Director John Ricks told the Omaha World-Herald that he didn’t think that the campaign reinforced negative stereotypes.

Yost said that price tag seems high, and he’s frustrated that Nebraska’s tourism commission worked with an out-of-state firm when a local agency might have a deeper understanding of the state.

While Amazon appears to be narrowing its list of 20 finalists, it is still unclear which cities may be in the lead, and what exactly the additional visits indicate about specific cities’ chances.

After it announced its shortlist, Amazon conducted whirlwind, two-day site visits to all 20 cities, and asked a host of follow-up questions. They also requested reams of data as detailed as local high school test scores, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
