Wednesday 09:56 GMT

Tuesday 20:58 GMT

(Reuters) - Democratic U.S. Representative Beto O’Rourke faces off against U.S. Senator Ted Cruz in their second debate on Tuesday as recent opinion polls show the Republican incumbent pulling away from his liberal challenger for the Texas seat.

A CNN poll published on Tuesday showed the first-term incumbent Cruz with a 52 percent to 45 percent lead, suggesting national enthusiasm about O’Rourke reflected in media profiles and donations may not be so strong in Republican-leaning Texas, which has not elected a Democrat to the Senate in three decades.
