Comedian Michelle Wolf set to host White House Correspondents Dinner

Wolf, 32, is a stand-up comedian and a correspondent on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” who recently premiered her hour-long HBO special, "Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady."

“I’m delighted to announce ‘Nice Lady’ Michelle Wolf as our featured entertainer this year,” White House Correspondents’ Association President Margaret Talev said on Thursday. Talev said the dinner “honors the First Amendment and strong, independent journalism,” noting that she feels Wolf has embraced these values.

Haley issues strong call to UN Security Council to get aid to Syria's Eastern Ghouta region

After Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s military forces and allies Wednesday pounded civilians and infrastructure, including hospitals, in Eastern Ghouta, United States United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley called on her Security Council colleagues to support a UN resolution to get humanitarian supplies to those in need.

Haley urged members of the Security Council to pass a draft resolution calling for a 30-day ceasefire so aid can get to the worst hit areas.

Home Depot Expects Lower Taxes, Stronger Sales Following U.S. Tax Reform — CFO

Home Depot Inc. expects a substantial drop in its effective tax rate and continued sales growth in 2018 as the new tax law boosts the U.S. economy, according to Chief Financial Officer Carol Tomé.

The federal tax overhaul lowered the U.S. corporate tax rate to 21%, from 35% previously, and set the country on the path to a territorial tax system. The world’s largest home-improvement chain forecasts its effective tax rate will fall to 26% in 2018, from 39.6% in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2017.
