Opening this week at New York’s Public Theater is a pair of inspired one-act monologues, Sea Wall and A Life, the former starring Tom Sturridge and the latter Jake Gyllenhaal.

Cracknell, Sturridge and Gyllenhaal, working with emotionally precise scripts, bring two human, no-frills stories to life.

When she shot to fame, Susan was initially blissfully unaware of the global phenomenon she had become, largely down to the then fast-growing video-sharing platform YouTube.

The US event is the first of February's four big international Fashion Weeks, which are also held in London, Paris and Milan. It usually features a heady mix of supermodels, front rows peppered with celebrities and political controversy.
