A settlement has been reached in a $1-million lawsuit filed by a taxi driver accusing police of negligence after he got caught up in the August 2016 take-down of ISIS-sympathizer Aaron Driver.

FBI agent whose tip thwarted 2016 ISIS attack in Ontario says he was glad to help. Terry Duffield was injured when Driver detonated a homemade explosive in the back of his cab in August 2016. “I have to be very careful because there is an agreement to not disclose any of the terms of the settlement,” Duffield’s lawyer Kevin Egan told 980 CFPL.

Vantage Drilling Signs $5 Million FCPA Settlement Linked to Petrobras Probe

Offshore oil rig operator Vantage Drilling International agreed to disgorge $5 million in a settlement with U.S. regulators related to a corruption probe in Brazil involving Petrobras .

The case arose from allegations of improper payments made in 2009 and 2010 by a former Vantage Drilling Co. director to former officials at Brazilian state-run oil firm Petróleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras, relating to the contracting of a drillship.

Israel fury as Airbnb bars settlements

Israel has denounced as "shameful" Airbnb's decision to withdraw its listings from homes in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Israel says such an argument is a pretext for avoiding direct peace talks, and that the fate of settlements should be negotiated in accordance with peace accords signed with the Palestinians in 1993.

Société Générale Touts Compliance Improvements When Striking Settlements

French bank Société Générale SA pointed to its cooperation with authorities and enhancements to its corporate compliance programs Monday as reasons the bank received settlements over allegations it had violated U.S. sanctions law.

Société Générale said it reorganized the structure of the teams responsible for sanctions compliance and enhanced reporting procedures. In addition, the bank said it created an independent compliance role directly supervised by general management and established a training program focusing on culture and conduct in its global offices.

Airbnb cuts listings in Israeli West Bank settlements

Home-rental platform Airbnb announced Monday it would no longer offer its service in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, drawing an angry response from Israel.

Senior Palestinian official Saeb Erakat, however, said it was "crucial for Airbnb to follow the position of international law that Israel is the occupying power and that Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including occupied east Jerusalem, are illegal and constitute war crimes."

No settlement imminent in Canada Post labour dispute

The Trudeau government signalled Monday it was willing to give Canada Post a couple more days to settle a labour dispute with its employees despite pressure from business to end rotating strikes that have caused a month-long backlog of undelivered parcels and mail.

Canada Post proposed the cooling-off period as pressure mounted to resolve the labour dispute ahead of the busy Christmas delivery season.
