On Friday, Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Washington Archbishop Donald Wuerl, the cardinal who oversaw the archdiocese where more than a half-million Catholics worship for 12 years.

Wuerl’s resignation is the culmination of the latest reckoning for church leaders over reports of sexual abuse by priests and a failure among church leaders to hold them to account. But Browne said that if Wuerl decided to resign, parishioners should trust that it was time for him to go.

French president reshuffles cabinet to include key ally after resignations

The key roles of finance minister and foreign minister — and the key policies — remain unchanged in Macron's government. Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian retained his post and continued on his planned schedule with a meeting with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Tuesday, ahead of the European Council meeting later in the week.

Some Nassar survivors claimed Faegre Baker Daniels helped cover up Nassar’s abuse while the firm was employed by USA Gymnastics.

Alaska Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott resigned Tuesday over unspecified inappropriate comments, complicating what was already a difficult re-election fight for Gov. Bill Walker.

Word of Mallott's resignation was beginning to circulate among the delegates at the Alaska Federation of Natives conference, where Mallott, an Alaska Native leader from southeast Alaska, had long been treated as a rock star. On Tuesday, as Walker and Davidson held their brief news conference at the governor's office in Anchorage, the largest gathering of Alaska Natives in the state was being held nearby at the city's convention center.
