EU Increases Military and Development Aid for Troubled Sahel Region

Saturday 21:50 GMT

The European Union announced a boost in military and development aid for the West African Sahel region Friday, part of European efforts to cooperate in stabilizing a neighboring trouble spot.

The planned 5,000-strong force of African troops would work to improve border security and fight terror in five Sahel countries: Mali, Niger, Chad, Mauritania and Burkina Faso. Europe’s focus on the Sahel intensified in 2013 when Islamist militants swept toward Bamako, the capital of Mali, a former French colony.

Swarm of 200 earthquakes strikes Yellowstone super volcano

Saturday 15:26 GMT

This is not Thiel’s first brush with the left, nor is he the only conservative feeling the backlash from what is being described as a “persuasive problem” in Silicon Valley.
