Indian Wells: Roger Federer beats Kyle Edmund to reach quarter-finals

Thursday 22:45 GMT

Having won that, and then made a run to the last 16 of the main event, Edmund has gained form and confidence, not to mention ranking points.

Edmund made the most inauspicious of starts: his first two service points were double faults, and he was ultimately beaten comfortably by Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam champion served typically smoothly, but Edmund did not let him run away with things in the second set, and saw four break-back points saved.

Aubameyang the hero as Arsenal beat Rennes and reach quarter-finals

Friday 03:19 GMT

Tottenham face Manchester City in Champions League quarter-finals

Saturday 10:49 GMT

Tottenham will play Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, while Manchester United have been drawn against Barcelona.

Five-time European champions Barcelona thrashed Lyon 5-1 in midweek to reach the quarter-finals, while United became the first team in Champions League and European Cup history to overcome a 2-0 home first-leg deficit. United have won just one of their eight European Cup/Champions League meetings with Barcelona, losing both of their last two encounters in the 2009 and 2011 finals.

Champions League quarter-finals: tie-by-tie analysis and verdict

Saturday 17:14 GMT

City are in a rich vein of form, though, having won their last 10 games (if you include the Carabao Cup final win on penalties against Chelsea) and if Fernandinho is back from injury then Spurs’ task will be even harder.

True, their group, consisting of Galatasaray, Lokomotiv Moscow and Schalke, was one of the easiest but they have scored 19 goals in eight Champions League games and disposed of Roma in the last 16 (although they needed extra time to go through).
