Role reversal as Germany and England under-21s clash

Today 18:11 GMT

For much of this century, Germany's youth system has been considered one of the football world's best, but England have caught up lately.

Jadon Sancho, 19, is already making his mark on England's senior team despite still being young enough to turn out for the under-21s, who play Germany in a friendly in Bournemouth on Tuesday. Dele Alli (22), Declan Rice (20) and Bayern Munich target Callum Hudson-Odoi (18, pictured above) are also young enough to feature in that game but instead have all started for the seniors during this international break.

Basilicata is the third region won by the coalition, which includes Salvini’s far-right League, Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia and the smaller far-right party, Brothers of Italy, since the League formed a national government with the Five Star Movement (M5S) last June.

Catch them while you can: Messi and Ronaldo will not be around for ever

Sunday 06:03 GMT

It would not have been the same had there been a Messi era and a Ronaldo era without them constantly overlapping.

The other day, as Lionel Messi seduced a stadium full of Real Betis fans with an explosively beautiful hat-trick, coming so soon after Cristiano Ronaldo carried Juventus onwards in the Champions League fuelled by his own theatrical charge, it was only natural to think about how lucky we are to love football at the same point in history that these two are playing, especially as so much is accessible, in real time, to be watched by anyone anywhere.
