Lindsey Vonn's avalanche of injuries

American skiing phenom Lindsey Vonn found herself on the Olympic podium once again Wednesday after winning bronze in the women's downhill.

In an interview with Sharyn Alfonsi last year for 60 Minutes Sports, Vonn elaborated on the long list of injuries she has sustained throughout her career as one of the greatest female ski racers in history. In an unaired portion of the clip posted above, Vonn also admits that her family wanted her to stop skiing after she reinjured her knee.

A 23-year-old woman was temporarily paralyzed after doing a sit-up

Marcelle Mancuso, a 23-year-old fitness enthusiast, had a freak accident at the gym that left her paralyzed from the neck down for a full month.

WATCH BELOW: Parents of dead 21-year-old fitness buff warning about dangers of flu. A law grad from São José do Rio Preto, Mancuso was attempting to do an inverted sit-up, which requires lying upside down on a tilted apparatus, when the tragic event occurred.
