Offshore oil and gas drilling in the US is plagued by “systemic failures” in oversight that are being worsened by Trump administration attempts to expand drilling and roll back safety requirements, a new report has warned.

This situation is further deteriorating due to the Trump administration opening up almost all US waters to offshore drilling, as well as repealing Obama-era safety rules put in place after the Deepwater Horizon spill, according to the report, released on the eve of the ninth anniversary of the disaster.

Love Island star killed herself after mixing drugs and alcohol, inquest finds

A coroner has issued a warning about mixing alcohol and cocaine after the Love Island contestant Sophie Gradon killed herself after consuming both substances.

Gradon’s boyfriend, Aaron Armstrong, was found dead 20 days after she killed herself, also after having taken cocaine and alcohol, and the coroner made a similar ruling at his inquest last month. The couple were not staying together on 19 June, the night before she was found dead, because they were each looking after their parents’ dogs, but they had exchanged loving messages.

Random House confirmed Monday to The Associated Press that "The Beautiful Ones" will combine Prince unfinished manuscript with rare photos, scrapbooks and lyrics.

"'The Beautiful Ones' is the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him," Random House announced.

The deputy mayor of Adolf Hitler’s home town has resigned after publishing a poem about immigration whose imagery was described by Austria’s chancellor as “disgusting, inhuman and deeply racist”.

Christian Schilcher, the deputy mayor of Branau am Inn, published his poem in the Easter edition of a local newspaper affiliated to his far-right Freedom party. The poem, Die Stadtratte (Nagetier mit Kanalisationshintergrund), roughly translates as The City Rat (Rodent that Comes from the Sewer).
