CNN’s Don Lemon says he wouldn’t have shaken Trump’s hand at Bush funeral

Friday 15:26 GMT

CNN’s Don Lemon was all-in with his anti-Trump rhetoric Wednesday night, saying he wouldn’t shake the president’s hand and bashing him for removing his coat.

Lemon gave his take on the widely discussed arrival of the Trumps at George H.W. Bush’s funeral with his colleague Chris Cuomo — when the current president shook hands with the Obamas while Hillary Clinton didn’t offer him a glance. “I’ve got to tell you, I’m just being honest, the Obamas are really classy folks because I don’t know if I could be,” Lemon began.

Media use coverage of Bush funeral to criticize Trump

Sunday 18:10 GMT

Many journalists used their reporting and commentary on the death of President George H.W. Bush as an opportunity to attack President Trump.

No one will ever have seen anything like that funeral," ABC News correspondent Terry Moran said, mocking President Trump. NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell said it was “extraordinary” seeing President Trump “sitting with the former presidents paying tribute to a leader whose humility and decency is different from today's politics.”

CNN anchor Don Lemon lectures Trump supporters: The truth 'doesn’t matter’ to them

Today 12:41 GMT

CNN anchor Don Lemon sounded off on what he called President Trump’s “lies,” and claimed the commander in chief's supporters only call out fact-fudging when it comes from Democrats. After his colleague Chris Cuomo closed his show by questioning the president’s evolving narrative about his business ties to Russia, Lemon said that Trump “lied about the lies that he lied about.”

“To me, I think it has been sort of been accepted that this president lies and normalized in a way and that is bothersome no matter who is president, but that’s just bothersome to me and what it does to the fabric of our society,” Lemon told Cuomo during their primetime hand-off. Cuomo agreed with the sentiment, saying that lying is “the basis of all criminal prosecution and political upheaval.”
