UK condemns Saudi Arabia over 'repulsive' mass executions

Britain has issued its sharpest condemnation of the direction of Saudi Arabian human rights policy, describing its mass executions as “repulsive” and “utterly unacceptable in the modern world”.

Despite the killings, the Saudis went ahead with a major investors conference in Riyadh, setting out a plan for its chairing of the G20 and for the Saudi capital market to be among the top 10 in the world by 2030.

The 16-year-old Swedish student, who sparked a global youth-based movement when she began a “climate strike” outside Sweden’s parliament last year, gave a typically blunt speech.

The World Jewish Congress has slammed a Polish town's beating and burning of an effigy of Judas as promoting anti-Semitism.

The World Jewish Congress has condemned a tradition in the small Polish town of Pruchnik in which villagers beat and burn an effigy of Judas on Good Friday. The Catholic Church has banned the pre-Easter practice and says it glorifies violence.
