‘Marvel’s Runaways’: What to expect from the teen superhero show

‘Marvel’s Runaways’ premieres with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Showcase and on Tues., Nov. 21 on Hulu in the U.S.

Runaways focuses on a group of six Los Angeles teenagers who discover that their parents aren’t what they seem, but instead super-villains in disguise, and they run away from home together in order to take them down. The good news is this 10-episode series, based on the comics of the same name, is a refreshing take on the genre.

The next decade, the boom went bust, with nearly a quarter of the clubs closing and two struggling cable channels merging into one, which later became known as Comedy Central.

From the sexist bottlenecks at Johnny Carson’s “Tonight” show and Del Close’s improv fief to the slightly mystifying, ad-driven focus on a young male audience for most of the history of Comedy Central — still haunts the comedy scene, not just shrinking the pool of women onstage, but also surely narrowing the audience.
