Belt and Road Forum: Is China-Pakistan Economic Corridor failing?

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan is participating in the second Belt and Road Forum in Beijing amid reports that the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project is not really moving forward.

China on Tuesday reiterated its faith in the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project in its global Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Beijing also lauded Pakistani PM Imran Khan's decision to participate in the three-day Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which kicked off on Thursday, April 25.

GOP strategist Colin Reed said Wednesday he thinks “the gloves will come off right away” if former Vice President Joe Biden joins the crowded 2020 field of Democrats as expected. “I think Joe Biden has made a connection with voters,” Democratic strategist Michael Meehan, the president and CEO of Squared Communications, responded on “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino” Wednesday.

When asked if he thought Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders would go after Biden right away, Reed said, “I don’t think he goes after him right away because he’s the frontrunner, and in politics, you always punch up, not down.”

China pushes Belt and Road to world leaders

World leaders are gathering in Beijing from Thursday for a summit on China's Belt and Road initiative amid growing criticism of the project.

Mr Rafferty said the Chinese government "wants to convince the international community that the Belt and Road Initiative is inclusive and policy concessions in areas such as debt sustainability" are likely.

As the mayor of Vado Ligure, Monica Giuliano, tells DW, her town "got started with the famous Silk Road that everyone is talking about already a few years ago." In 2008, a project to build and manage Italy’s first semiautomated port was awarded to Netherlands-based APM Terminals, part of the Danish conglomerate Maersk.

Guerrero belts another home run for Bisons
