Dressing attendants as Mile-High Barbies is just a last blast of sexism

Some of us have been extremely patient with GoT (gratuitous nudity…dragon-crap… clunking scripts that sometimes make it resemble the Acorn Antiques of fantasy), but this final season weepathon could be a liberty too far.

Never mind that the flight attendants may have preferred comfort, elegance and dignity to styling that came perilously close over the years to Mile-High Barbie. On and off ground, airline staff have a big job to do – safeguarding the wellbeing and security of passengers.

Southwest Airlines says bookings strong even as 737 MAX remains...

(Reuters) - Southwest Airlines Co forecast better-than-expected second-quarter revenue growth on Thursday, citing demand from leisure and business customers, even as the low-cost carrier is forced to ground its 34 Boeing 737 MAX jets.

Dallas-based Southwest, the world’s largest MAX operator, said it expected closely watched unit revenue to grow by 5.5 percent to 5.7 percent year-on-year in the second quarter.

Airlines count the cost of Boeing grounding

Airlines Norwegian and Southwest have both revealed big hits to their earnings from the grounding of Boeing 737 Max planes.

All Boeing 737 Max 8 planes have been grounded globally following the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash near Addis Ababa. Boeing has said it is developing new software for the Max's Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), an anti-stall system which has come under scrutiny since the crashes.
