Nebraska flooding that impacted capital's water supply seen in time-lapse video

A rush of water that flooded a wellfield for the water system of Nebraska’s capital on Sunday and spawned restrictions can be seen in a stunning time-lapse video.

In the nearly hour-long video sped up to 25 seconds, the water from record flooding along the Platte River can be seen eroding away the land as it rushes into the area.

At least 50 people killed by flash floods in eastern Indonesia

In January, floods and landslides killed at least 70 people on Sulawesi island, while earlier this month hundreds in the West Java province were forced to evacuate when torrential rains triggered severe flooding.

The floods in Sentani, near the provincial capital of Jayapura, were triggered by torrential rain and subsequent landslides on Saturday, and also left 59 people injured. Dozens of homes were damaged by floodwaters, the national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.

An officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police was arrested Tuesday and accused of inhumane behavior, including making a mentally ill man "dougie" and "twerk" while video-taping him.

Her attorney, Tony Sgro, told News 3 that she "took her job as a police officer seriously," and said they plan to "vigorously defend against the allegations."

‘Potentially historic’ flooding may deluge parts of US south, experts warn

Scientists are warning that historic flooding could soon deluge parts of several southern states along the lower Mississippi River, and floodwaters could persist for several weeks.

Major flooding is already occurring this week on the Mississippi River near several southern cities including Arkansas City, Arkansas; Natchez, Mississippi; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to river gauges and data from NOAA.

Flooding at a U.S. Air Force base in Nebraska that damaged buildings and forced the removal of a plane integral to the nation’s nuclear attack response highlight the risks climate change poses to national security, experts said on Monday.

Last week’s “bomb cyclone” storm flooded about 60 structures including 30 buildings at the Offutt Air Force Base, said Ryan Hansen, a spokesman for the 55th Wing, a unit providing reconnaissance, intelligence and combat support to U.S. leaders.
