Deroy Murdock: Club for Growth outruns super PAC rivals

Sunday 21:49 GMT

“Additionally, when Club for Growth PAC endorses a candidate, Club PACs overwhelm the opposition with targeted spending. In other words, we go all in.”

“This gives Club for Growth PAC a tremendous advantage in framing the narrative of the race and defining the opposition before they can attempt to define our endorsed candidate. “Unlike other groups, Club PACs engage very early on in races so that our dollars are spent more effectively and efficiently when campaigns usually don’t have the funds to be on air themselves,” McIntosh notes.

Why The Favourite should win the best picture Oscar

16-Feb-2019

Yorgos Lanthimos upends expectations of a polite period drama with a wild, raucous, dark comedy filled with perversity, pettiness and pet rabbits. Rather like last year’s surprise best picture nominee Phantom Thread, The Favourite presents us with familiar prestige, an ornate, Oscar-friendly chocolate box, with fillings one might think easy to predict.

As someone who has endured far more than his fair share of Oscar bait, films created almost solely with awards in mind, it’s a rare treat to see a contender as gloriously uncensored and unbridled as The Favourite: not only in its vicious vulgarity, but also in its brutal honesty about relationships.

There may be plenty of Canadians who favour this course of treatment, but that doesn’t mean it’s been effective in the past.
